How to make a passport size photo

Which download do you need?
People often grab the wrong one, so:

The print sheet is the part most free tools skip. Handing a shop a plain 4×6 file means no cropping charge and no argument about sizing.
Taking the photo so it actually gets accepted
The tool handles sizing. It can't fix a photo that was wrong when you took it. Most rejections come down to a handful of things:
- Face too small or too large in the frame. Your head should fill roughly 70–80% of the height. The oval guide in the crop tool is set for this.
- Shadows on the face or behind you. Stand facing a window in daylight, about a metre from a plain wall. Overhead room lights cast the worst shadows.
- Busy background. A plain light wall works. Our white-background option helps, but it works best when the wall was already fairly plain to begin with.
- Not looking straight at the camera. Head level, eyes open, neutral expression, mouth closed.
- Glasses reflecting the flash. Easiest fix is to take them off, unless you're required to wear them.
- Hair covering the eyes or face edges. Tuck it back.
One more, specific to phones: don't use a photo that has been through WhatsApp. It gets compressed hard, and portals often reject the result for being low resolution or under the minimum file size. Use the original from your gallery.

That matters here more than with most tools. A passport photograph is identity data, and you are usually one step away from also uploading a signature and an ID number. - Can I change the background to white?
- There's an option for it, and it works well when your original background is already a fairly plain wall. Against a cluttered background the edges around hair can look rough — retaking the photo against a plain wall gives a cleaner result.
- How many photos come on one sheet?
- Eight, arranged in a 4 × 2 grid on a 4×6 inch sheet at passport size. Smaller presets like stamp size fit more, and the grid is calculated automatically from whichever size you choose.
- Does this work on an Android phone?
